Who is my teacher, anyway?

I have been playing piano and been involved in music since I was 3 1/2 years old, originally taking lessons from my Mum! When I was 14, I started a new direction and went on to study more in the Russian Piano School Style, with teacher Bernadette Dowling. I was focusing heavily on  Classical piano with performance and teaching, and received First Class Honours for all Piano and Theory Exams through the Royal Consevatory of Music, Toronto.  I enrolled in the Music Program at the University of Lethbridge with a scholarship, and studied with Glen Montgomery, a world-renowned concert pianist. Unfortunately, a recurring hand injury from a previous surgery prevented me from  furthering myself as a serious Classical performer, so I continued my career in teaching. I have 37 years of experience in teaching and performing, and am always continuing to learn myself. I always strive to make piano lessons enjoyable for my students!

I have grown up kids and live with my  wonderful husband, and our little zoo of animals. I teach in Garrington, Alberta, and also perform with two Celtic groups called Hither and Yon,  and Whoopsie Daisies. I arrange our music, and play Accordion as well as piano. I also paint under the name "Pine Art",  and am also a novice photographer.
